TRAVELER REVIEW
We have stayed at the Joshua Barney House several times over the last two years and just love it there -- a great hidden spot for a weekend getaway or a special place to stay during a trip to Baltimore.
We originally found this hidden Gem while looking for a special weekend getaway convenient to BWI Airport. The Inn served this purpose exceptionally well. It can be reached in about 10 minutes by car from BWI or 20 minutes or so by shuttle. Once there you quickly step back into a part of Maryland history unknown to many before a visit. What a thrill to learn about Commodore Josuha Barney and walk to floors where he once walked. After visiting the Inn several times it is hard not to continue reading and learning about The Commodore. There is a great book about him for sale at the Inn and much information available on the Internet. It turns out The Commodore was a true US Navy hero probably second only to John Paul Jones -- and in many ways The Commodore almost accomplished more.
In addition to its historical interest, The Inn is a delightful place to stay on its own. Innkeeper Susan is a wonderful hostess that seems to have a second sense about whether a guest would like quite and privacy or would like to join her and/or other guests in conversation. If you happen to choose conversation, you will find she is most interesting to visit with about almost any subject. The Inn's Library and Living Room are beautiful rooms for guests to meet and visit, perhaps start an impromptu game, or use as a meeting room for a group. The outside grounds are simple stunning -- great for sitting outside or a short walk.
The Inn's sleeping rooms are truly beautiful and comfortable for a day or a week. Every detail has been taken care of for the discriminating guest. From triple sheets on the beds that make you not want to go home, to towels so thick they can hardly be folded, to every detail in the room, to a wonderful, diverse breakfast offering -- every detail has been thought of to make a memory during your stay.
We encourage you to try the Inn -- and we hope you enjoy it as much a we have.
